Till Date Traces website https://www.tdscpc.gov.in is not accessible from overseas. It's only accessible within India. You will get following error if you try to open website outside of India:

"Site is not available due to technical reason".
Options to download form 16B if you are living abroad:
- Hire a Chartered Accountant in India who can help you downloading it
- Take help of someone in India to register on your behalf and help you downloading it
- Use online tools such as, LogMeIn, WebEx, GoToMeeting which provides screen sharing option. You can use these tools to take control of computer of someone in your family in India or guide while sharing screens. Your friend or family member can open the site for you and share the screen with you or if you have taken control of their PC you can open it yourself. Personally I used LogMeIn and used remote control feature.
- Use a VPN or a Proxy service. Please use paid services only as you would be supplying your sensitive information over the web using these services.

Thank you Varun for posting the link for Traces NRI website link! Much appreciated. I will share among all my NRI friends. It has been a pain downloading Form 16B so far. No need of taking help of family or friends in India and no need to pay fee to CA to help you for the same. I did pay CA to help me in the beginning. Any idea when Traces launched this NRI website?
ReplyDeleteYou still cannot download form 16B using the NRI link. They have blocked this feature for the NRI link. I called their helpdesk and they said I should access the server within India to download form 16B.

ReplyDeletePlease wait some days till d time Traces launch Form 16B downloading feature. If you are trying to register urself after paying TDS property challan, you should to wait till one week after paying challan online and fill correct details as shown on your PAN card and please take step 1 screenshot after filling details if you continuously getting registration failure mail coz it will help them better to analyse and respond clearly.
